PS3 3D gaming console
The Playstation 3, or PS3, is a gaming console, which was first launched in 2006 by Sony. The PS3 sported new features including improved graphics and the ability to connect to wireless internet. Another new feature introduced with the PS3 was the use of Blu-Ray discs as the main means of data storage. This meant that PS3 games were also stored on Blu-Ray discs, which increased the price of games but vastly improved graphics and speed. Latest new added features on PS3 were full stereoscopic 3D gaming, now Playstation 3 able to play 3D games and 3D movie with firmware update and 3D capable televisions. Originally, 14 games were released with the PS3 console including Resistance: Fall of Man, which won the IGN and Gamespot Game of the Year award. Several PS3 games have been awarded best or most popular games of their respective years including the aforementioned, award-winning Resistance: Fall of Man as well as Ridge Racer 7, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and Call of Duty 3.
Currently, hundreds of games are available for the PS3 gaming system. Many of these games allow players to connect to the Playstation Network, the PS3 online service. Sony has made many different genres of games available to their customers including shooter games, sports games, children’s games, puzzle games, arcade games, and movie or television show themed games. Some of the most popular PS3 games include 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, Assassin’s Creed, College Hoops 2K8, God of War, Grand Theft Auto IV, NBA Ballers: Chosen One, and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. In 2008, Blitz Games announced that it would begin producing games that included stereoscopic 3D features, allowing some games to be played and viewed in 3D.
