Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes Review (PS3/Wii)

Beat’em ups and hack-and-slash games suffer from a bad rap. Many gamers prefer much more in-depth, narrative driven affairs, but for those of us that still enjoy a simple, replayable arcade style affair, Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes is certainly a well-made, and most importantly, fun game. From Capcom, Sengoku Basara is the third in the series, and while not the first to come to the US, it is the first to come to the US without a localization that destroys the premise. Set in the “warring states” Sengoku period of Japan’s history, some of the characters and circumstances are historically accurate. Of course, the flying badasses, giant death machines and rocket launchers are probably artistic license. Probably. Sengoku Basara is pretty straight froward. Waves of foes, mostly inept and dumb, come running at you, and you lay into them using a variety different characters, special abilities, weapons and powerful accessories. Some levels inject simple objectives, such as maintaining control of points on the map, as well as grandiose boss battles, but you’re essentially button mashing your way through your enemies so you can level up and button mash some more. Classic Game Room HD – DARK VOID review

Classic Game Room HD reviews DARK VOID for Playstation 3 PS3, also available for Xbox 360 and Windows PC. Welcome to rental city! Dark Void is an action adventure game that can’t decide whether it is a shooter or a flying game. The flight controls are terrible and bring down what is otherwise a very entertaining game. A mediocre combat system and interesting environments move a cool sci-fi story along about your character’s disappearance into the Bermuda Triangle and eventual adventure into the VOID. But can you handle the awkward jetpack controls and terrible flight system to see it to the end? Hooray for quicktime events (sarcasm). As much as Classic Game Room loves cheesy science fiction adventures this one lives up to its title. This CGR review of Dark Void from Capcom has gameplay from Dark Void showing Dark Void game play on PS3 Playstation 3 with gaming footage.
