PlayStation 4, Xbox 720, and Wii U Coming Soon!?! Good or Bad? by HaYDuH (Modern Warfare 3 Gameplay/Commentary) PlayStation 4, Xbox 720 (Xbox 3), and Wii U Coming Soon? Too Early? Xbox 3 coming soon, kotaku sources. The PlayStation 4, Xbox 720 are rumored to be revealed at E3 2012. Would this be a good or bad thing? Is there a need for next generation consoles with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 still producing high quality games? The Wii U is already dated to be released near the end of 2012. The annual electronic expo is notorious for hardware reveals and it wouldn’t be so surprising if this rumor were true. . According to UK trade website, MCV, an ultra high level source has reported that we’ll see the unveiling of PlayStation 4 alongside the reported reveal of the next generation Xbox console. Rumors are flying all over the place suggesting that Microsoft will reveal their new console this year, and Playstation Euro boss Jim Ryan suggested to Eurogamer last year that it would be “undesirable” to concede another head start advantage to Microsoft. . If that is their intention, they better get moving quick becomes some reports suggest that we may even see the reveal of Microsoft’s new console as early as next week at the Consumer Electronic Show! I personally doubt they would choose CES as the location of their announcement but who knows, it’s all speculation right? . Here is what we do know: Nintendo has already demonstrated the Wii U which is likely to launch next Holiday season. But yes, Sony admitted it’s in the offing in one of those indirectly-traveling-from-New-York-to-LA-by-way-of-China references. Perhaps you’ve heard Sony’s PlayStation division posted a profit for its fiscal year. Well it did, and though PlayStation sales were essentially flat, operating income was about 6 million, an about-face from the prior fiscal year’s billion loss. Speaking to investors Thursday about the news, Sony Japan Executive Vice President and CFO Masaru Kato fielded questions, at one point talking up the PS3′s product life, then adding “this is a platform business, so for the future platform – when we’ll be introducing that product, I cannot discuss that – but our development work is already underway.” Instant ‘PlayStation 4!’ news churn. Which is just to say “yeah, knew that already.” Because these guys never rest, and “already” could mean for one, two, or five years for all we know. News at this point would be when it’s coming, not “if” or “whether.” So here’s the actually interesting stuff: Kato talked about the PlayStation 3′s initial investment overhead. Hi gamers, it’s your girl Andrea Rene here with some exciting news. Well, okay we all knew this way coming but I still think it’s exciting. Sony officially announced they are currently developed the successor to the Playstation 3. . Dubbed Playstation 4, the hardware is still considering prototype research and will likely not see developers until sometime next year, with a possible 2013 retail release. Sony has other hardware they are still working on as, their next gen handheld the Next Generation Portable or NGP. . So I gues the console wars have officially begun! I’m hoping to get my hands on the Wii successor next month at E3 and it’s no secret that Microsoft is working on a follow up to the Xbox 360 as well. So what do you guys think?
