Classic Game Room reviews CABELA’S DANGEROUS HUNTS 2011 from Activision for PS3 Playstation 3 (also for Xbox 360 and Wii), a light gun style shooting game where you hunt animals before they hunt you! Several modes of gameplay including classic arcade shooting, survival and storyline await gunners looking to waste some furry friends like doom wolves, death hyenas and rotten out-for-no-good lions. This CGR review of Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2011 has gameplay from Cabelas Dangerous Hunts 2011 on Playstation 3 PS3 played with the Cabela’s Top Shot Elite assault rifle peripheral for PS3. Game play is fast and responsive on Playstation 3 with the Top Shot Elite. Also available for Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. While the storyline mode in Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2011 suffers from awkward controls on the Top Shot Elite or PS Move the shooting gallery and survival modes are rad and pack some real gameplay into the hunting video game package.

Beat’em ups and hack-and-slash games suffer from a bad rap. Many gamers prefer much more in-depth, narrative driven affairs, but for those of us that still enjoy a simple, replayable arcade style affair, Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes is certainly a well-made, and most importantly, fun game. From Capcom, Sengoku Basara is the third in the series, and while not the first to come to the US, it is the first to come to the US without a localization that destroys the premise. Set in the “warring states” Sengoku period of Japan’s history, some of the characters and circumstances are historically accurate. Of course, the flying badasses, giant death machines and rocket launchers are probably artistic license. Probably. Sengoku Basara is pretty straight froward. Waves of foes, mostly inept and dumb, come running at you, and you lay into them using a variety different characters, special abilities, weapons and powerful accessories. Some levels inject simple objectives, such as maintaining control of points on the map, as well as grandiose boss battles, but you’re essentially button mashing your way through your enemies so you can level up and button mash some more. Not everyone is going to understand the appeal, but I personally love simple, cheesy games (and, boy, is Sengoku Basara cheesy) like this. Part 1 of 2. The Classic Game Room HD RESISTANCE 2 review. CGRHD reviews Resistance 2, the new first person shooter from Insomniac for the Playstation 3 PS3 video game console. Nathan Hale returns to fight the Chimera in America this time around. Resistance: Fall of Man came out a year or two ago and blew us away with its smooth gameplay, awesome storyline and tremendous FPS action. This R2 review shows that everything has improved. The sound effects, graphics, environment and action have somehow reached a new level of perfection. Although Resistance 2 has an improved multiplayer mode this part of the review covers the single player campaign mode. Controls are solid, the footage shows the action packed gameplay on the PS3 and the ferocity of the enemies who confront you. Your favorite weapons are back along with many new ones. The Bullseye, Laark and Auger just to name a few. R2 is a blast to play and this review has the best gameplay footage you’re likely to find thanks to the CGRHD team of magic unicorns and video recording equipment. Resistance 2 is out now for the PS3. Highly recommended. This game is not likely to come out for the Xbox 360, Wii or Atari 2600 any time soon.
